ContractLink is a digital marketplace operated in South Africa that connects clients with verified contractors for estate, home, and facility services. This policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information in compliance with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

2. Information we collect

  • Account data: name, email, phone number, user role, and password (hashed).
  • Profile data: business name, service categories, coverage areas, profile photo, and about description.
  • Verification documents: government-issued ID, proof of address, business registration, and proof of insurance.
  • Request and quote data: service request details, quotes, hire decisions, reviews, and disputes.
  • Payment data: transaction records via our payment gateway. We do not store card numbers.
  • Usage data: pages visited, browser type, IP address, and session duration.

3. How we use your information

We process data to operate the platform, match clients with contractors, verify identities, process payments, send emails, prevent fraud, resolve disputes, and improve the service.

4. Lawful basis

Under POPIA: consent (registration), contractual necessity (transactions), legitimate interest (fraud prevention), and legal obligation (tax records, disputes).

5. Sharing

Contact details are shared between matched parties only after a valid engagement. We do not sell personal information. We share data with payment processors, email services, and hosting providers under appropriate agreements.

6. Data retention

Account data is retained while active. Verification documents are retained for verified status duration plus 12 months. Transaction records are kept 5 years per SA tax law.

7. Your rights
